چکیده

Comparison of microbicides for efficacy in protecting mice against vaginal challenge with herpes simplex virus type 2, cytotoxicity, antibacterial properties, and sperm immobilization. Candidate microbicide PPCM blocks human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection in cell and tissue cultures and prevents genital herpes in a murine model. ACIDFORM inactivates herpes simplex virus and prevents genital herpes in a mouse model: optimal candidate for microbicide combinations. Mild acidic pH inhibition of the major pathway of herpes simplex virus entry into HEp-2 cells. Detection of herpes simplex virus type 2-specific immunoglobulin G antibodies in African sera by using recombinant gG2, Western blotting, and gG2 inhibition. Patterns and predictors of adherence to diaphragm use in a phase III trial in sub-Saharan Africa: a trajectory analysis.

Evaluation of behavioural interventions in HIV/STI prevention.

The relative lack of such studies partly reflects the particular challenges of applying randomised trials in this area. Although there are obvious differences between clinical and behavioural interventions, t...

Phase specific strategies for the prevention, control, and elimination of sexually transmitted diseases: background country profile, England and Wales.

The development of non-invasive tests for evidence of current or past infection offers new prospects for carrying out population studies of sexually transmitted infection (STI) epidemiology, and for improved understanding of the behavioural and biological determinants of STI transmission. In turn this may guide screening, treatment, and behavioural interventions. The evidence base for many inte...
